Fracking Lawsuits Pile Up in Pennsylvania

Gas Industry Still In Denial
Shale gas extraction isn’t simply dangerous, it’s toxic. Uninsurable. And it’s not just Nationwide who denies rig operators commercial coverage. Fraccidents and industrial workplace accidents related to fracking have spiked.

There’s been plenty of coverage on the variety of legal issues in recent months, from truck accidents and property damage to real estate values and contracts. Shale gas extraction is a method of “extreme fossil fuel extraction.” We’ve used up all the mineral deposits that are easy to get, now we’re using methods that are more technologically advanced, like mountaintop removal, atom splitting and fracking. Big Philly firms like Duane Morris LLP are humming with the legal business of gas, while attorneys working in seven counties are mounting the legal challenge to the odious Marcellus Shale Act.

This brief bibliography details a story of tragic losses, personal, financial and rapidly increasing. Is there legal recourse? As fraccidents keep happening, and these cases seep though PA courts like so much acid mine drainage, we can only wait to see if Lady Justice is truly blind.

the main problem in PA is that there has been nothing done for consumer protection whether it be signing a lease, being left with leases that have been signed by neighbors….all the proof is on the people. The industry has high paid lawyers and we are left to fend for ourselves trying to prove that none of this happened before the drilling started.
