Tom, I know there are landowners in NEPA who are eager to lease their land to drillers and cash in on this boom. I also know it’s not my place to tell people what to do with their land.
My concern is purely for the integrity of the watershed, which 15.6 million people share. I don’t think we have enough evidence that fracking is safe enough to do it there. Rather, I believe the evidence points to risks that are simply too great. I think we ought to re-designate more Special Protection Waters, and strengthen the designation of Delaware River tributaries to “Exceptional Value.” This is the only way to truly protect those of us who live downstream from the impacts of this heavy industrialization.
